The Scene
This rendering captures the pure essence of Raphael's original design, exactly as the creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird conceived it. The figure celebrates the character's first appearance in the 1984 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics published by Mirage Studios, faithfully preserving the silhouette and iconic look that defined the series' legend. It's not a modern cinematic adaptation, but a return to the roots, where every line and detail reflects the original art that made these ninja turtles an indelible pop culture icon.
The Character
In the vast landscape of pop culture, Raphael occupies a pivotal role that transcends sheer brute force: he embodies the visceral impulse and unyielding loyalty that have defined the saga's identity from its inception. Born in the black-and-white pages of Mirage Studios' independent comics in 1984, the character was not destined to become a commercial icon, but a cruel and dangerous antihero, a shadow ninja who fought crime in the streets of New York City with an intensity that left its mark. His narrative arc hinges on the precarious balance between his explosive nature and his deep need to protect family, making him the emotional heart and narrative engine of the group. For collectors, this version is not merely a statue, but a direct bridge to the franchise's most authentic and raw origins, celebrating the moment when the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were still a real threat, not just a television phenomenon.
Why Collect It
