MaterialePlasticMaterialePlasticThe Plastic Man from Todd Macfarlane, in an 11.5 cm (4.5 inch) scale, captures the character’s elastic essence with a design that blurs the line between toy and sculpture. This DC Direct edition, produced by McFarlane Toys, is more than just a figure: it’s a tribute to the character’s iconic versatility, designed for those looking for a distinctive, character‑rich piece to showcase front and center.
The Character
Since his first appearance in 1941 in Police Comics #1, Patrick “Eel” O’Brian has never been a conventional superhero. Transformed by a chemical accident into a being capable of stretching, bending and transforming his body into any imaginable shape, Plastic Man redefined the concept of heroism by introducing a uniquely slapstick sense of humor within the comic book landscape. This playful and subversive approach has made him one of the most distinctive and memorable figures in DC Comics history, a pillar of the Golden Age that continues to fascinate for his ability to blend action and comedy in an unmistakable way.
Why Collect It
This DC Direct edition is more than just a statuette; it’s a tribute to Todd Macfarlane’s legendary ability to reinvent classics with a touch of irony and dynamism. It represents a piece of DC collecting history, a unique opportunity to own a version that celebrates the character’s flexibility in a stylistically unique way. For those looking to complete their collection with pieces that tell a story beyond simple packaging, this figure offers aesthetic and rarity value that makes it a true focal point for any superhero display.
