The Scene
The figure captures the iconic look of Etrigan the Demon as portrayed in the 1997 animated series The New Batman Adventures. The design faithfully reproduces the character's aesthetic from the DC Animated Universe, with the distinctive features that made him a memorable villain during that era of animated television. It is not a modern reinterpretation or a specific adaptation from a live‑action film, but a direct representation of his canonical look from the 1990s, perfect for those looking to recreate the exact atmosphere of that era of Batman animated adventures.
The Character
Beyond its aesthetics, Etrigan embodies one of DC's most fascinating paradoxes: the forced coexistence of Jason Blood's soul—a fallen Arthurian knight—and the fierce demonic essence bound to him by Merlin's spell. This curse creates an unstable yet essential alliance where the brute strength and infernal fire of the demon are channeled to fight dark magic. His role is not that of a traditional hero, but of a supernatural anti‑hero operating in the shadows, working alongside Batman to defend Gotham City. In the animated series, this duo stands out for their ability to confront threats that technology alone cannot counter, making Etrigan an essential pillar for collectors of The New Batman Adventures figures who seek to reconstruct the entire ecosystem of heroes and allies in that specific narrative era.
Why Collect It
Collecting this version of Etrigan the Demon preserves a piece of DC animation history, capturing in scale the dark and mysterious essence of an antagonist who defined the atmosphere of The New Batman Adventures. The DC Direct line is not a mere accessory, but a carefully curated tribute that elevates the character from simple toy to display piece, ideal for those looking to fill gaps in their showcase dedicated to the multiverse. Its presence adds specific weight in terms of rarity and authenticity, turning the figure into a focal point that tells, through design and articulation, the legacy of one of Batman’s most memorable demons.
